Approved, build not started

MedPhone for NextGen practices.

MedPhone runs on athenahealth today. We are approved to integrate with NextGen and are prioritizing the build by practice demand.

We will not tell you NextGen works today when it does not. This page updates when it goes live.

What a NextGen front desk fields all day.

Ambulatory multi specialty groups, community health centers and behavioral health practices.

  • Callers who would rather not speak English, on a line with no interpreter waiting
  • Sliding scale and financial assistance questions before anyone will book
  • Care coordination across sites, where the caller does not know which location they need
  • Behavioral health scheduling, where the caller may not try twice
  • Transport and appointment reminder calls that nobody has time to make

Community health carries the callers least able to absorb a missed connection. A patient who cannot get through is not usually a patient who calls back tomorrow.

Where the NextGen integration stands.

NextGen has approved MedPhone to integrate. The build has not started, so nothing is working yet and we are not going to imply otherwise.

What is real today is athenahealth, where MedPhone is answering patient calls in daily use. The call handling, the routing, the transfer rules and the writing back to the chart are all built and working. What changes per EHR is the connection underneath.

Practices on the list get told first when NextGen goes live, and they shape which workflows we build first.

What we would build first for NextGen.

Community health and behavioral health carry the callers least able to absorb a missed connection. These are the four we would take first on NextGen, and they are all about the first attempt succeeding.

  1. Answering in the language the caller actually wants, on the first call, without an interpreter queue in front of it

  2. Sliding scale and financial assistance questions answered before booking, because for many callers that is the question that decides whether they come at all

  3. Routing across sites when the caller does not know which location they need, instead of transferring them until they give up

  4. Behavioral health scheduling handled on the first attempt, because a caller who does not get through often does not try again

Straight answers about NextGen.

Does MedPhone work with NextGen today?

No. NextGen has approved MedPhone to integrate and the build has not started. No NextGen practice is running on MedPhone. It is live in production on athenahealth.

Does it handle callers who do not speak English?

It answers in multiple languages in production today on athenahealth. That behavior is part of the phone agent rather than the integration, so it comes to NextGen with the build rather than after it.

We are a community health center. Does the pricing work for us?

Pricing is per call answered rather than per seat or per provider, so it scales with how busy the phones are and not with headcount. Tell us your call volume on the list and we will give you a real number rather than a range.

What MedPhone does in production today.

Running on athenahealth today. This is what comes to NextGen when the integration lands.

  • Answers every inbound patient call on the first ring, on hours and after
  • Books, reschedules and cancels appointments against the provider schedule
  • Takes prescription refill requests and routes them to the provider inbox
  • Collects insurance details and flags mismatches for the front desk
  • Transfers complex or urgent calls to your team on rules you set
  • Writes a summary of every call back to the patient chart
