Approved, build not started

MedPhone for Dentrix practices.

MedPhone runs on athenahealth today. We are approved to integrate with Dentrix and are prioritizing the build by practice demand.

We will not tell you Dentrix works today when it does not. This page updates when it goes live.

What a Dentrix front desk fields all day.

Dental practices. General dentistry, and specialty practices running the same Henry Schein One stack.

  • Six month hygiene recall, the single largest source of routine dental revenue
  • Emergency toothache triage, where the caller is in pain and will phone the next practice within minutes
  • Broken appointment rescheduling, which in dental is a daily job rather than an occasional one
  • Dental benefit verification, which works nothing like medical insurance and has its own annual maximums
  • Treatment plan follow up on work that was accepted and never booked

Dental economics run on recall and on chair time. An unfilled hygiene slot is gone for good, and an emergency call that reaches voicemail is a patient who is already dialing somebody else.

Where the Dentrix integration stands.

Dentrix has approved MedPhone to integrate. The build has not started, so nothing is working yet and we are not going to imply otherwise.

What is real today is athenahealth, where MedPhone is answering patient calls in daily use. The call handling, the routing, the transfer rules and the writing back to the chart are all built and working. What changes per EHR is the connection underneath.

Practices on the list get told first when Dentrix goes live, and they shape which workflows we build first.

What we would build first for Dentrix.

Dental phones do not sound like medical phones. These are the four we would take first on Dentrix, and they follow the money: recall, chair time and the emergency call that is already dialling somebody else.

  1. Hygiene recall, which is the single largest source of routine dental revenue and the outreach that gets dropped first when the day gets busy

  2. Emergency toothache triage, where the caller is in pain and the practice that answers is the practice that treats them

  3. Broken appointment rescheduling, which in dental is a daily job rather than an occasional one, and the difference between a full chair and an empty one

  4. Treatment plan follow up on work the patient already accepted and never came back to book

Straight answers about Dentrix.

Does MedPhone work with Dentrix today?

No. Dentrix has approved MedPhone to integrate and the build has not started. No dental practice is running on MedPhone. It is live in production on athenahealth, which is a medical system, so a dental practice cannot start today.

Is dental really different enough to need its own build?

Yes. Recall on a six month cycle, benefit plans with annual maximums that work nothing like medical insurance, and an appointment book organized around chair time rather than provider time. A medical scheduling integration does not map onto any of that.

What does joining the list get us?

You get told first when it goes live, and the practices on the list decide what we build before everything else. If enough dental practices ask for recall before emergency triage, recall goes first.

What MedPhone does in production today.

Running on athenahealth today. This is what comes to Dentrix when the integration lands.

  • Answers every inbound patient call on the first ring, on hours and after
  • Books, reschedules and cancels appointments against the provider schedule
  • Takes prescription refill requests and routes them to the provider inbox
  • Collects insurance details and flags mismatches for the front desk
  • Transfers complex or urgent calls to your team on rules you set
  • Writes a summary of every call back to the patient chart
